The story of the Gouttes d’eau
Laurent Beyne’s artistic process includes a slow maturation of ideas, which suddenly bursts forth into dazzling fruition; he considers his designs to be a make-or-break proposition. He used this process to invent a glass cutting technique to shape objects that fracture light. The design for this piece came to fruition during a lunch at Guy Savoy's restaurant. A sketch of the Goutte d’Eau became clear as day in Beyne’s mind’s eye as he tasted the dishes, observed the table and absorbed his surroundings. Five glass objects immerged from the lively atmosphere surrounding him - he would call them Gouttes d’Eau or water droplets in English.

These pinch pots are all made of glass but you can choose between five different colors: transparent, yellow, red, black or blue. Which one will brighten up your table? Laurent Beyne named them Goutte d’Eau or water droplets - they rest on your table but won’t get it wet! |
